About Valletta
A compact capital of limestone streets, balconies and harbour views. A place for people who enjoy culture and city life on their doorstep.
Valletta is a fortified capital on a peninsula, with a grid of streets fitted to steep terrain. UNESCO recognises the city as a World Heritage Site. Its relationship with the Order of St John is visible in the fortifications and ceremonial buildings, but the pleasures of a visit are also small: a balcony overhead, a shopfront, a glimpse of water at the bottom of a street. Treat the city as a place to walk through slowly rather than a checklist of monuments.
