About Pietà
Villa Frere in Pietà is a surviving fragment of a once larger garden estate. Heritage Malta describes its association with John Hookham Frere and the later loss of substantial areas as neighbouring institutional uses expanded. The visit therefore has two subjects: the garden you can see and the process of conserving what remains. Look at terraces, boundaries and surviving features as evidence of an evolving place rather than expecting an untouched historic landscape.
